The legendary Veeraswamy, the grand Indian restaurant created in 1926, has been transformed to much praise, to the reflect the glamour and glory it exuded in the 1920s.

National Geographic, the highly respected travel magazine, has named it one of the 10 Best Destination & Special Restaurants in the World. No other UK restaurant features in the top 10.
Classic Dishes

Veeraswamy focuses on splendid classic dishes from the courts and bourgeois homes, as well as food baked in the North West frontier clay ovens (aka Tandoors). These include:

Nizami Murgh – from the Royal kitchens of Hyderabad – Chicken breast and koftas with pine nut, lemon and rose petal
Begum Bahar– A home style Lucknow chicken korma with saffron
Nihari Lamb– the ultimate slow–cooked aromatic dish from Lucknow
Kashmiri Rogan Josh – an intensely aromatic lamb curry of small shanks of lamb with saffron and cockscomb flower – a classic favourite
Sholay Chicken Tikka – Smoked chicken with Garam Masala cooked in the Tandoor
Tandoori Red Snapper – with black pepper

Coastal Specialities

The coastal regions of Maharashtra, Goa, and the Malabar Coast produce some of the most seductive seafood dishes in the world – with a blend of coconut and spices. We offer a variety of seafood dishes from India’s coastal settlements – it not widely known that 35% of India’s population lives along the coast. Seafood options originate from Mangalore in the West, Cochin in the South and Bengal in the East. These include:

Mussels Moilee – Fresh mussels in an aromatic ginger sauce – a customer favourite;
Oyster Kebab – marinated oysters, flash grilled
Sea Bream Paturi – A Bengali classic – steamed in a banana leaf with a chilli and mustard sauce
Malabar lobster curry – with fresh turmeric and unripe mango

Vegetarian Dishes

Traditional Indian vegetarian food comprises a platter (thali) of small bowls (katoris) of vegetables, lentil, yoghurt, and bread or rice, giving a balanced meal. One-dimensional single vegetarian main courses just do not exist in India. In keeping with this, we recommend a combination of our vegetable main courses such as Kolhapuri Kofta, plus creating a do it yourself thali from our varied selection of interesting vegetarian side dishes.

Desserts

There is an enticing selection of Indian desserts stylishly presented. They are a contemporised version of Indian sweet dishes such as chocolate kulfi (Indian ice cream), homemade rasgollas, gulab jamun and some cosmopolitan choices such as fruit jellies.
